On September 8th, the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) “Viitorul” in partnership with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Moldova conducted a public debate on the changes proposed to the Law on Medicines.

During the discussions the experts pointed out to a series of drawbacks and risks of the draft Law such as selling of medicines in the so-called specialized shops that in fact may stimulate an unjustified consumption of medicines and increase the possibilities for faked drugs to enter the pharmaceutical market in the country, reducing the access to quality medications and at justified prices, including in the rural areas, unreasonable high density of pharmacies, inefficient traceability and flow of the medications, including through the newly proposed on-line commerce. A detailed analysis of the Law on Medicines can be downloaded here.
