How the Transnistrian region could be reintegrated: working scenarios and debates
The current edition of the FES/APE foreign policy bulletin is dedicated to the Reintegration Forum. Organized for the first time in Chisinau, this high-level event discussed a topic addressed more openly for the first time in the last thirty years - how could the separatist region of Transnistria be reintegrated?
The Forum guests discussed, during the two panels, about the key priorities for the political agenda of the reintegration process and the security premises for this process. The speakers focused on multiple aspects: the window of opportunity open for resolving the conflict in the context of Russian aggression in Ukraine, the 5+2 format and its viability, the solutions aimed at the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Transnistrian region, the need for coordination with development partners on the resolution of the Transnistrian file, the correlation of the country's European course with the reintegration file and the need for a vision and a plan for the country's reintegration. The economic and social implications of reintegration represented a separate topic of the forum.
The summary of these discussions is reproduced in the current edition of the newsletter, which can be downloaded here.
