This edition of the FES/APE Foreign Policy Newsletter takes stock of a pivotal year for the Republic of Moldova, marked by significant steps toward European Union membership alongside persistent political, social, and institutional tensions. The December issue encourages an open and realistic discussion on how the country can progress simultaneously on its path to European integration and strengthen internal stability, for the benefit of all citizens.

The Newsletter features expert insights on the key challenges of 2025: the anti-corruption expert Cristina Ciubotaru assesses both the achievements and ongoing obstacles in judicial reform and the fight against corruption; sociologist Vitalie Sprînceană highlights social strains and calls for a focus on social reconstruction in 2026; while economy expert Marina Soloviova examines economic difficulties and outlines policies to boost investment, support SMEs, and ensure transparency. Additionally, MP Mark Tcaciuk stresses that reintegrating Transnistria remains crucial for Moldova’s European trajectory, while also drawing attention to the environmental crisis and the need for dialogue and international cooperation.
