“Climate Change and Social Inequalities in the Republic of Moldova: A Climate Justice Perspective” – An Analysis of the Social Impact of the Climate Crisis

The publication explores the impact of droughts, heatwaves, and energy-related risks on different segments of the population, with a particular focus on rural communities, low-income households, older people, rural women, and other vulnerable groups. The analysis highlights how unequal access to resources and infrastructure can exacerbate social vulnerabilities in the context of the climate crisis.

The relationship between climate change, social inequalities, and public policies in the Republic of Moldova is the focus of a new publication by FES Moldova, authored by Eleonora Lisnic. The study examines the effects of climate change through the lens of climate justice, highlighting how people and communities with limited resources are often the most exposed to climate risks and have fewer opportunities to adapt.

The study also examines the existing public policy framework and the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in climate adaptation, identifying gaps that need to be addressed to ensure a fair and inclusive climate transition. The publication contributes to a better understanding of the unequal distribution of the costs of climate change and provides a basis for developing public policies that better respond to the needs of the most exposed groups and communities.
