State of the Country Report 2024

The State of the Country Report 2024 provides an in-depth analysis of Moldova’s socio-economic landscape within the current national and regional context. It highlights critical challenges, such as limited access to finance, labour market pressures, and governance inefficiencies, while offering targeted policy recommendations across three key pillars of Moldovan society: Firms, People, and Governance. This edition features a special chapter dedicated to enhancing Moldova’s resilience and economic potential by improving access to capital, addressing systemic financial barriers, and fostering investment-driven growth.  

The report calls for a shift toward a competitiveness model rooted in efficiency, alongside enhancements to the business environment and increased transparency in state programs. It also stresses the importance of raising household incomes, expanding employment opportunities, and bolstering social assistance systems to reduce vulnerabilities and promote inclusive growth. Through actionable and sector-specific recommendations, the report encourages Moldova to embrace innovative strategies, overcome structural obstacles, and unlock its full potential as it progresses toward European integration.
