The 10th edition of the Moldova European Integration Forum Took Place in Chisinau

The 10th edition of the Moldova European Integration Forum took place on November 26th in Chisinau and was entitled “Key Steps for Advancing Moldova’s EU accession negotiations”. The event provided a platform for discussions on the steps needed for the Republic of Moldova to advance its EU accession negotiations.

The Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) Moldova, in cooperation with the Association for Foreign Policy (APE) and the Soros Foundation Moldova, and in partnership with the European Integration Bureau of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, organized on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the 10th edition of the European Integration Forum of the Republic of Moldova, titled "Key Steps for Advancing Moldova’s EU Accession Negotiations." The conference brought together representatives of authorities, civil society, and the diplomatic community, as well as national and international political experts and journalists.

The Forum discussed essential steps for advancing the EU accession negotiations, lessons learned from the bilateral screening sessions, and the necessary reforms for the accelerated European integration of the country, as well as the importance of a transparent and inclusive decision-making process for advancing the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova. At the opening of the Forum, the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, stated: "For the first time in history, we have tangible chances of becoming an EU member state, and it depends only on our ability to unite around this goal." The President also emphasized the importance of national unity to turn the chances of accession into reality, calling for the support of civil society. Felix Hett, Representative of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, spoke about regional challenges and the need for a dialogue based on mutual respect for the future of Europe.

This anniversary edition of the European Integration Forum also had a special guest – the Danish Minister for European Affairs, Marie Bjerre – who expressed support for the Republic of Moldova's EU accession, emphasizing that the Moldovan people have chosen the European option despite external and internal obstacles, and that the majority of citizens support this path.
