The need for broad political and societal consensus on the reform of local public administration was the main topic of the round table “Towards a Broad Political and Societal Consensus on Local Public Administration Reform in the Republic of Moldova: Visions and Functional Solutions”, organized by FES Moldova and the Public Administration School of USM.

The event brought together representatives of the Government, political parties, academia, experts, and local authorities to discuss the direction and feasibility of the local public administration reform, as well as alternative solutions proposed by different stakeholders.

Participants emphasized that modernizing public administration and aligning it with European standards requires political continuity, institutional cooperation, and constant dialogue between authorities, experts, and civil society. The discussions highlighted the importance of identifying common ground between different reform visions in order to ensure a predictable, sustainable, and widely accepted process. Speakers also stressed that such a large-scale structural reform must reflect the realities of the Republic of Moldova and contribute to building a more efficient, functional, and citizen-oriented local public administration system.
